Max Verstappen shared his thoughts on Red Bull's newly unveiled surprising 2024 challenger - RB20.

The previous generation of Red Bull's car, the RB19, allowed Max Verstappen to completely dominate the 2023 season by winning 19 out of 22 races and breaking multiple World records.

However, the Dutchman clarified to the media right after the season that the car wasn't perfect and that there were still many things to improve.

As the championship leader, Red Bull was expected to play the development game more defensively and not take significant risks to retain their edge over rivals for as long as possible in the safest manner.

However, the team from Milton Keynes surprised everyone with the car they unveiled on the 15th of February with quite a few major changes in the design. Max Verstappen told Sky Sports:

"I do think they've been quite bold, and that's what I like. They've been quite aggressive."

The triple World Champion admitted even he was surprised by the big change in design once he was shown the scatches of the new car. As reported by motorsport.com, he said:

"I'm quite happy with the direction that they chose. I saw the drawings, I think, in Abu Dhabi, the last race, and I was like, 'Wow, that's quite different in a way.' They've not been conservative, let's say it like that."

Will these changes bring Red Bull a massive boost in terms of performance? That won't be clear until the first Grand Prix weekend of the season in Bahrain, which takes place almost exactly two weeks from when this article was posted. Verstappen added:

"Of course, time will tell if it's really, really good. But from what I see within the team, everyone is just happy with what they have achieved in the winter. But then again, we don't know. We can't control what other people did."

On top of that, the Dutch driver was suggested that the car chose similar style to previous Mercedes design, with reduced side pods. According to Verstappen, it's style Red Bull style.

"I would still call it a Red Bull style. But I know what you mean!"
