Starting his career in karting, Logan Hunter Sargeant managed to win the 2015 CIK-FIA World KFJ Championship and become the first American driver to claim the title since Lake Speek in 1978. In 2016, Sergeant won his first senior karting title, competing in the WSK Champions Cup.
Graduating up to single-seaters, Logan Sargeant competed in the 2016–17 Formula 4 UAE Championship, where he achieved 15 podiums in 18 races and finished second in the overall standings. Later, he would finish 3rd in F4 British Championship racing for Carlin.
Sergeant then moved through the Formula Renault Eurocup where he achieved multiple victories and finished fourth in the Championship to the FIA Formula 3 Championship, where he would compete for years 2019, 2020, and 2021.
In 2020, the American joined Prema Racing and scored his first Formula 3 victory at
Silverstone Circuit as well as his second victory during a sprint at
Spa-Francorchamps. He finished the season in third place. In 2021, Sergeant finished 7th in the Championship with multiple podium finishes and one victory racing for Charouz Racing System.
Logan Sargeant became a part of the Carlin Formula 2 team in the 2022 season. Throughout the season, the American achieved two victories at Silverstone and
Red Bull Ring circuits and a total of four podium finishes; however, due to unlucky technical issues and accidents, he finished fourth in the driver’s championship in the end.
In 2023, Logan Sargeant moved up to
Formula 1, signing a contract with
Williams Racing to race alongside
Alex Albon as a replacement for Nicholas Latifi. He spent one and a half seasons with the British team before he was replaced (following the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix) by
Franco Colapinto.
Unfortunately, during the 17 Grand Prix weekends with Williams, Sargeant never managed to outperform his teammate Albon in qualifying. Following one of his multiple crashes in 2024, which occurred during the weekend in the Netherlands, team principal James Vowles made the hard decision and replaced the American driver.
