Aston Martin is a British Formula One racing team, competing in the 2024 Formula 1 World Championship.
Aston Martin, also known as Aston Martin Aramco-Mercedes or Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team, is a Formula 1 team racing under a British license, and it's based in Silverstone, England, in the United Kingdom.
The British team is one of the oldest in
Formula One, yet they have only competed in a few seasons. Aston Martin first competed at the 1959 Dutch Grand Prix, where they debuted their DBR4, but they have appeared in only two seasons (1959 and 1960), and the team never managed to stand on the podium, placing sixth as the team's best-ever result.
It took more than six decades before Aston Martin appeared on the Formula One grid again, and it came in 2021, after the Racing Point F1 Team, previously known as the Force India F1 Team, was renamed and rebranded to Aston Martin.
The team's chairman and owner remained the same -
Lawrence Stroll. Therefore, it wasn't surprising that his son,
Lance Stroll, appeared in the drivers' line-up every season, teaming up with four-time World Champion
Sebastian Vettel in 2021 and 2022 and two-time World Champion
Fernando Alonso in 2023.
Already during the team's first season in over 60 years, Sebastian Vettel managed to achieve Aston Martin's best-ever result when he placed fifth at the 2021
Monaco Grand Prix, and already in the next race, he secured the team's first podium at the 2021
Azerbaijan Grand Prix, finishing second.
The following season wasn't so successful for the team, but they surprised in 2023 when Fernando Alonso marked the best-ever season by an Aston Martin driver, starting it with three consecutive third-place finishes and adding four more podiums during the season, including three second-place finishes.
