Logan Sargeant gave a completely unbothered answer to an interview question about his potential replacement after the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix.
The Williams Racing driver hasn't been doing particularly well in Williams ever since he joined the team in 2023. In 37 Grand Prix qualifying sessions, he didn't manage to outqualify his teammate Alex Albon.
James Vowles decided to keep him for the 2024 season despite not being completely satisfied after 2023 and then gave him one more chance after the summer break of 2024.
However, when the 23-year-old completely destroyed his Williams during the FP3 session ahead of the 2024 Dutch Grand Prix (the first race after summer break), more rumors about a potential driver swap started emerging.
After the 15th round of the season in the Netherlands (where he ultimately finished in P16), the American driver was asked a final question (according to F1 Journalist Adam Cooper) in relation to whether he was concerned about the ongoing rumors about his replacement. His answer was:
"I hear them every weekend, so it's nothing new. I could care less."
On Tuesday, August 27th, Williams officially announced that they were dropping Logan Sargeant and replacing him with Franco Colapinto.
Franco Colapinto is a driver from Williams Driver Academy who competed in Formula 3 last year and was promoted to F2 ahead of the 2024 season.
Colapinto is a 21-year-old Argentinian who stood sixth in the F2 Championship (with one victory) at the time of the announcement concerning his promotion to F1.
He will have nine Grand Prix races to show what he's got. What is certain is that Colapinto will not drive for Williams in 2025, as the team has already signed F1 drivers Carlos Sainz and Alex Albon for that year.
