The scoring system in Formula One has changed over the years, but in the most recent decades, the race winner has been awarded 25 points, with the drivers coming in second and third, getting 18 and 15 points, respectively. First ten places receive points in the Grand Prix, with the tenth driver across the line getting one point.
In 2019, F1 announced that one point will be awarded for the fastest lap in the Grand Prix, provided that the driver finishes in the Top 10. The rule remained ever since. On top of that, with the introduction of the Sprint Races, drivers can earn extra points with the winner getting 8 points, decreasing by one all the way to the eighth driver earning 1 point.
