Alexander Albon Ansusinha was born on March 23, 1996, to father Nigel Albon, who was a British racing driver, and mother Kankamol, who is from Thailand. The Thai-British driver was born in London, England, and he represents Thailand in his racing career.
At the age of eight, Albon started racing competitively in karts, and he quickly won multiple events, such as the local Hoddesdon Championship, but also the Kartmasters British Grand Prix, and the Super 1 National Honda Cadet Championship.
In 2012, at the age of 16, Albon became part of the
Red Bull Junior Team and also started racing in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 for EPIC Racing, finishing 38th in his first season in the competition.
By 2014, the Thai-British driver competed in three Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 championships, placing third in his last season in the competition, after that, he moved to the Formula 3 European Championship, where he placed seventh in 2015.
Already in 2017, Albon raced in the Formula 2 Championship, and after placing tenth in his debut season, he finished 3rd in 2018, just behind
George Russell and
Landon Norris, who would later become his rivals in the
Formula One World Championship.
In 2019, Albon made his F1 debut for the Red Bull Toro Rosso Honda at the 2019
Australian Grand Prix, and after 12 races, he was promoted to Red Bull Racing, replacing
Pierre Gasly.
Albon would then stay in Red Bull Racing also for the 2020 season, but after placing only seventh in the World Drivers' Championship, the Thai-British driver missed the 2021 season, as he was replaced by
Sergio Perez, participating only as a test and reserve driver.
In 2022, Albon got a chance to compete in F1 once again, but this time, it was
Williams Racing who signed him, and their collaboration continued for the following season.
