Stake F1 Team Kick Sauber, previously known as Alfa Romeo F1 Team Stake or Alfa Romeo-Ferrari, is a Formula 1 team racing under a Swiss license based in Hinwil, Zürich, Switzerland.
The Sauber team was founded by Peter Sauber and entered Formula One for the first time in 1993. The Swiss team operated under the name of its founder until season 2005, when they entered into collaboration with BWM, part of which was a change of the team name,
From 2006 until 2009, the team was known as BMW and even competed under the German flag. After the collaboration ended, Sauber competed under its founder's name again until 2017.
In 2017, Sauber entered into a partnership with Alfa Romeo, a car manufacturer, and the team was known under the name of the Italian brand until the end of the 2023 season, when the collaboration ended.
Sauber has not achieved a single Drivers' or Contructors' Championship in the whole history of the team. During the years of collaboration with Alfa Romeo, the team quite struggled with its perfromance and competed at the back of the grid.
However, the Swiss team's future looks brighter as it is set to become a factory team for another German car manufacturer, Audi, from 2026 onwards.
This is an important step for the team as Audi plans to build its own engines, which will be a great competitive advantage in Formula One. However, the team has to wait two years before the partnership with Audi officially begins.
For the two seasons between the end of its collaboration with Alfa Romeo (2023) and the beginning of its partnership with Audi (2026), the Swiss team will again be known as Sauber.
Sauber's drivers for the 2024 season are Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu.
