Toto Wolff mentioned in his recent interview that
Mercedes's W15 (2024 challenger) "feels like a car for the first time in two years."
Mercedes fans have been disappointed for two seasons in a row as Silver Arrows failed to build a car capable of competing for the title both in 2022 and 2023.
The team principal of the German team - Toto Wolff, said it was enough at the end of last season and that
Mercedes would be completely changing their development direction.
At this point, we are in the second half of the winter break, and every single F1 team should be more or less finished with the car they will run in the pre-season tests.
A little piece of information about the
W15 has been leaked in the meantime, suggesting the W15 should suit Lewis Hamilton with the seating position that was supposedly moved backward.
Wolff also hinted a while ago that the data from Mercedes's simulations looked promising. This time, the team principal told The Telegraph his simulator driver, Anthony Davidson, shared very positive feedback in relation to how the W15 feels on the simulator.
"He was driving Melbourne [in the sim] and he said: 'The car feels like a car for the first time in two years.'"
However, Mercedes had positive simulation data even ahead of the 2022 season as the team expected to be ahead of everyone by quite a margin and that proved to not be true in the end. Wolff added:
"Obviously, I would love this to correlate to the track, but we've seen in the last two years that this was not always the case."
We certainly can't wait for all the teams to reveal their 2024 challengers, including Mercedes.
The German team confirmed their launch date for the 2024 season for the 14.2.2024.
