Scuderia
Ferrari team principal
Frederic Vasseur said he is satisfied with the second half of the season but still sees "room for improvement everywhere."
Frederic Vasseur became a team principal of Scuderia Ferrari at the beginning of this year. The 2023 season was his first with the team, and the team principal was off to a scratchy start, but he said he was pleased with the second part of the season.
Vasseur explained that similar to
Red Bull, Ferrari has not brought any significant upgrades since the summer break. As quoted by motorsport.com, he said:
"I'm more than pleased because, between Zandvoort and [Abu Dhabi], we didn't change massively the car."
The 55-year-old admitted there was an upgrade in Japan, but otherwise, he suggested all the improved performance came from just understanding their car better.
"We had an upgrade in Japan I think, but basically we kept the same car, and we were able to do a much better job with a better understanding of the car, better set-up of the car, and a better approach from the drivers."
During the last 5 Grand Prix races. Ferrari always had a driver on the front row and competed with Red Bull. Leclerc might have even snatched another win but was unlucky with the timing of a safety car in
Las Vegas.
Vasseur suggests there is still much room for improvement and sees it as a good thing, as Ferrari needs to make a big step forward throughout the winter break in order to challenge Red Bull in 2024.
"It means that we have room for improvement everywhere, and this feeling is a good one to develop something for next year."
