Red Bull Racing Formula One driver Max Verstappen identified three of his best performances in 2023 following the last race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
The triple World Champion, Max Verstappen, won 19 out of 22 races of the 2023 season. Naming his best one might, therefore, be a bit more challenging for the Dutchman.
However, the 26-year-old remembers all of his victories so far, and he identified the three best moments of the 2023 season as he told the media:
"I think the comeback race in Miami was great, that was an important one. Winning at home at Zandvoort was a very nice one, and I think winning at Suzuka, after the tough weekend we had in Singapore."
Verstappen started the season on pretty much a similar pace to his teammate Sergio Perez and led in the Championship by only six points after fourth place in Azerbaijan.
However, he completely outperformed his teammate during the fifth race of the season - the Miami Grand Prix. Starting from the 9th place on the grid, Verstappen overtook Perez, who started from the pole to take the race lead and won the Grand Prix with a five-second gap to the Mexican F1 driver.
Zandvoort is where the Dutch Grand Prix takes place. The three-time World Champion broke a record for winning the race with the most pitstops as he pitted six times and still won the action-packed Grand Prix.
The 26-year-old stood on the podium during 21 out of 22 races of the season. The only time he didn't was during the Singapore Grand Prix, where he finished in fifth place.
Media started speculating whether Red Bull and Verstappen lost their pace and advantage after that race. But the Flying Dutchman proved everybody wrong with one of the most dominant performances in 2023 during the following race at Suzuka.
The three-time World Champion won the Japanese Grand Prix by almost 20 seconds ahead of McLaren driver Lando Norris in second place. Verstappen added:
"I love driving, I think that’s – first and foremost – the most important thing to be here. And, of course, winning is the best thing in F1."
