Williams Formula One driver Logan Sargeant acknowledged the great contribution of his teammate Alex Albon to the team's success.
The 2023 has not been an easy season for Williams, but the team managed to achieve its best result in the last six years by finishing seventh in the Constructors' Championship.
As Logan Sargeant mentioned, his F1 team only brought one upgrade to the car throughout the season, and it is spectacular they still snatched the seventh place.
Reflecting on Williams' seventh-place achievement in his rookie season, Sargeant told the media his team has mainly Alex Albon to thank for that.
"It means a lot to me. I did the best I could to make sure we held that. Alex has done a phenomenal job all year, he's majorly to thank for that."
Sargeant's experienced teammate collected 27 out of the total 28 points that Williams amassed in 2023. While the team pretty much sacrificed the 2023 season for a better 2024, Albon pretty much made the most out of it.
The 27-year-old himself said 2023 was maybe the first season that he felt comfortable and confident in and stated it had been the best season in his F1 career.
There has not been one qualifying or a race without retirement where the Sargeant would be able to beat his teammate. He added:
"I think Alex has been superseding this year. We haven't always had a car that's easy to score points and Alex was always just a little bit ahead to make sure he was there to score them."
By not bringing as many upgrades in 2023, Williams saved resources for the car development going into 2024. 2024 will also be the first proper season for the new team principal, James Vowles, and CTO Pat Fry, so Williams fans definitely have something to look forward to.
