Williams Formula One driver
Logan Sargeant reflected on his first season in Formula One as he said it was better than it looked on paper.
Logan Sargeant just finished his rookie season in Formula One. As opposed to another rookie -
Oscar Piastri, who almost broke Lewis Hamilton's first-season record, the American driver was not as successful.
The 2023 season, on paper, does not look good for Sargeant. His teammate Alex Albon outperformed him in every single qualification (the score is 22:0) and race that did not end by retirement.
On the other hand, the 22-year-old driver is confident as he said the season was "not as bad as it looks." The Williams driver told the media:
"I don't think it's always been as bad as it looks, especially since the summer break. I'm proud of the way I kept fighting through the whole year."
The American driver suggested he made progress after the first half of the season.
He achieved his first F1 point during the United States Grand Prix.
"The progress I've been making through the year has been really, really nice for me to see and hopefully I can contribute more in the future."
Sargeant highlighted the fact that his team only brought one upgrade to the car this season.
Williams, the team principal, has been open about focusing on 2024, and we might see the team making a significant step forward after the winter break.
"The team has done great with the car this year, I think speaks even more volumes that we only brought one upgrade to the car the whole season."
The team was obviously satisfied with the performances of the 22-year-old as the American driver got his contract extended for one more season at Williams.
"To do what we did was strong, and we can be proud of that. And hopefully, the car will be another step forward next year."
