Sauber (Former
Alfa Romeo) Team Representative
Alessandro Alunni Bravi evaluated the 2023 season results.
Alfa Romeo Sauber's team started the 2023 season fairly well when it achieved nine points during the first eight races of the season.
The team competing under the Switzerland flag was seventh in the Constructors' Championship ahead of
Haas,
AlphaTauri, and
Williams at one point.
However, similar to Haas, which was in eighth place right behind Sauber, the team failed to introduce new and effective upgrades to its cars and could not keep up with the pace of its competitors.
The team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi shared his disappointment with the 2023 season. As reported by RacingNews365, he said:
"I'm disappointed with this year's result, because I don't think it reflects our potential. It also doesn't match our ambitions or season targets so far. The disappointment is shared throughout the team and it's not like I'm pointing fingers at people."
Alfa Romeo Sauber had some decent weekends like the race in
Qatar. Even though it was one of the toughest races of the season and for many,
the toughest in their life, Sauber scored double points with both of their drivers in the top ten.
Sauber first lost position in the Championship to Williams and then to AlphaTauri, which kept introducing new upgrades until the final race of the season and picked up the pace significantly. Bravi added:
"I am the one responsible and we should have done better job as a team. For me, the realistic picture of our potential was the last part of the 2022 season where we were fighting between P7 and P8."
