Red Bull Racing F1 driver Sergio Perez revealed one aspect of the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix he finds crazy in a recent interview.
Sergio Perez recently warned about "hard to simulate" low temperatures and wind conditions that will be present at the Las Vegas Strip Circuit during the qualification and race on Saturday.
While some experts say the low temperatures might actually be helpful for the drivers, everybody will have to deal with them the same even if they weren't.
After being asked whether he has previously visited the city, Checo revealed he has been to Las Vegas multiple times in the past. As quoted by f1oversteer.com, he said:
"I’ve come here many times before so I know my way well around this place. It’s obviously very different especially the time zone, well it’s not too dissimilar to when I was here before."
Knowing his way well around the Sin City, the Mexican driver might have already driven a car through the streets where the race is supposed to take place. On the other hand, Checo shared one problem:
"But, I’m finding it a bit crazy to stay awake for so long at night, it’s quite a challenge to stay awake for so long."
The 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix is a unique weekend in F1 history as it will be the first time when qualification and the grand prix take place on the same day.
Unfortunately for Perez, it also means that both qualification and race will happen either very early in the morning or very late at night.
On the other hand, competitors might want to watch out for Perez this weekend. Checo is also known as the "King of the Streets" for achieving five out of his six career F1 wins on street circuits.
Street circuits apparently suit the 33-year-old really well, and with his improving form in the last three races, he might be a real contender for the race win this weekend.
