Red Bull Racing is one of the youngest teams on the F1 grid, but they have already had a lot of success, and part of that is Max Verstappen.
During the Red Bull's young history, one driver has already won four World Championships. That driver is Sebastian Vettel, who dominated with the team between 2010 and 2013, and now, there's another driver, who is writing the team's history.
Three-time World Champion Max Verstappen is clearly a major part of the team's success, and that was also acknowledged by Pierre Wache, who spoke to Formula 1 after the team launched their RB20 for the new season.
According to the 49-year-old, the Dutch driver has improved in many areas, especially his consistency, but also maturity. That's thanks to ability to win races, which helped him understand that he's able to do so without being too aggressive.
"[Max has] improved in terms of consistency and maybe confidence in himself. After, we also improved at the same time as him."
"He developed, he's more mature, for sure. He was young – very young – but his pace and his capacity to be quick and translate that on the track didn't change fundamentally."
According to Wache, in the team's relationship with their drivers, the most important part is the communication. The Frenchman asserted the importance of choosing the right vocabulary to communicate the messages clearly.
"With a driver, the main aspect is also to understand each other, to make sure that the vocabulary is clear between each other, and understand each other to make sure that we're able to deliver what he wants, and what he needs to be quick."
Wache also didn't forget to mention that Verstappen is a big part of the Red Bull Racing's success. On top of that, he's "the most talented driver" according to the 49-year-old, not just because of how fast he's on the track, but also because of his analytical abilities.
"For sure, he’s a big part of our success, because he's the most talented driver, from my point of view. But he's also able to give feedback on the car for him to be quick and analyse very well what the car behaviour is doing and how to fix it."
