Carlos Sainz, who is about to enroll in the last season with
Ferrari, asserted confidence in his position in the driver market.
Carlos Sainz's contract with Prancing Horse expires at the end of the season 2024. After that, the Spaniard will be replaced in Ferrari by Lewis Hamilton.
Sainz previously stated he wanted to continue with the Italian team, but being replaced by the seven-time World Champion means he has to search for a new team now. According to
Speedcafe, he said:
"I want to make sure I pick the right next destination for me so I want to take my time to think about it, to listen to all the options, have a look at all the options."
The 29-year-old will complete his fourth season with Scuderia in 2024. In 2023, he was the only driver to win a Grand Prix race outside of Red Bull and showed many amazing performances.
However, it wasn't enough to keep his seat. Nevertheless, he feels privileged to have had the opportunity to drive for the team from Maranello for four seasons.
"I feel very privileged to be part of Ferrari and still having a year ahead, that will be a total of four years as a Scuderia Ferrari driver."
Sainz asserted that the status of a Ferrari driver elevates his position in the driver market as he suggested a Ferrari driver can go to every team.
"Once you're a Ferrari driver, you can go to every team from now on. Having been at Ferrari and being a Ferrari driver, I think it does good for any driver on the grid."
But it isn't only the status of a Ferrari driver. Sainz achieved great results with the team and matched the pace of his teammate
Charles Leclerc on most occasions, so he has proved his strengths already. He added:
"I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me, as I'm sure there's going to be good things coming."
