Max Verstappen discussed
Lewis Hamilton's move to
Ferrari after the recent launch of his new car for the 2024 Seaso, the RB20.
Red Bull was the last team to reveal its car yesterday, on the 15th of February. Being one of the two drivers of the Austrian team and the reigning World Champion, Max Verstappen attended the launch.
After the event, there was space for the press to ask the drivers and other key
Red Bull members some questions, and the triple World Champion was asked to give his opinion on
Hamilton's move to leave Mercedes for Ferrari. As quoted by
F1, he said:
"At the end of the day, if someone wants to drive for Ferrari, especially someone like Lewis who has already achieved so much, if that’s his dream and goal..."
Shortly after the official announcement, the
Mercedes driver posted on his social media,
explaining it was a childhood dream to drive for the red. The 26-year-old continued:
"Again, we don’t know the talks they’ve had, at Mercedes, at Ferrari, what has been promised, what they think is coming."
Could it be that Ferrari revealed to the 39-year-old something about the new car, which made him reconsider his situation in Mercedes?
Verstappen asserted we shouldn't come up with these different possible reasons for Hamilton's move if we don't know whether any of them are true. The Red Bull driver added he thinks Hamilton and Ferrari will look cool together.
"You can’t give an honest assessment from our side as to why you make that decision. You know, if he is happy with that move, I think it will look cool, and of course, I hope for them it will be a success, but you don’t know."
