Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen discussed whether he could imagine possibly joining Ferrari in the future just like Lewis Hamilton is about to.
Max Verstappen has been with the Red Bull family since joining F1. He started his Formula 1 career in Toro Rosso (now RB) in 2015 and then moved to Red Bull after the first four races in 2016.
In 2024, it will be the Dutchman's ninth season with the team from Milton Keynes. By this point, Verstappen is in a quite similar situation to where Lewis Hamilton was, where it is assumed he and his team are inseparable.
However, as Hamilton proved a few weeks ago, nothing lasts forever. The seven-time World Champion decided to leave Mercedes after what will be his 12th season with the team in 2024.
The Dutchman already shared his opinion on Hamilton's shocking move, suggesting the 39-year-old and Ferrari will "look cool" together. But concerning his own possible future move to the Italian team, he said:
"I don’t want to sound, like, disrespectful or whatever because I have a lot of respect for the brand Ferrari, but I’m happy where I’m at."
Of course, Verstappen is currently enjoying the benefits of the dominant car, similar to how Hamilton was during 2016-2021 when he rejected multiple offers from Scuderia.
While the Dutchman says he isn't thinking about such a move at the moment, he didn't rule out this option in his future as he said, "Never say never."
"I’m comfortable in the environment I’m in so it’s not something I’m looking to change or whatever but again, in my life, you always want to experience so never say never but, for me now, it’s not even in my head."
What is interesting is that this response is very similar to what the seven-time World Champion used to say whenever the media asked him about potentially joining Ferrari. Could you imagine Verstappen joining the prancing horse in a few years?
