McLaren Formula One driver Lando Norris shared he felt the 2023 season was his best year in the sport so far.
In 2023, Lando Norris finished the season in sixth place in the Drivers' Championship with 205 points to his name and achieved his best result in F1 so far.
Norris was the fourth-best driver in terms of number of podiums achieved. The British driver stood on a podium seven times this season, six out of which he scored second place.
Looking back at the season, the 24-year-old concluded it was the best season ever since he started racing with McLaren, not only for himself but also for his team. He told motorsport.com:
"I think it’s been my best year. I think it’s been our best year as a team. I guess a lot it's just for the obvious reasons – the success that we’ve been able to have from after the start that we’ve had."
The Papaya driver also recently shared he experienced the best moment in his F1 career when he stood on the podium at his home circuit - Silverstone.
Norris showed many outstanding performances throughout the 2023 season. He believes his highlight was the 2023 Mexico City Grand Prix.
"I think there’s been a lot of great performances – both in terms of just racing through and having some good ones. Mexico [where Norris went from 17th to fifth with a series of eye-catching overtakes around a slow getaway at the second start] probably being the highlight of all of that."
McLaren's team principal, Andrea Stella, praised the 24-year-old for being very adaptable to changes in conditions on the track. However, Norris believes there is still some space for improvement.
"I still have to adapt every weekend. I’m still not super comfortable every weekend on [thinking], ‘the car is going to do this this weekend and it does that’, half the time it doesn’t."
Lando Norris has achieved numerous podiums in his career, but he is still waiting for his first Grand Prix victory in F1. Could we see it in 2024?
