Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen won his 16th race in the 2023 season during the Mexico City Grand Prix at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.

While Max Verstappen achieved yet another win with yet another dominant performance, finishing 13 seconds ahead of the second Lewis Hamilton, the race did not go as well for the second Red Bull driver.

Sergio Perez, who named the race in Mexico City as his most important race, had a great start but had a racing incident with Charles Leclerc when he squeezed the Ferrari driver against his teammate Verstappen.

With nowhere to go, Leclerc made big contact with the Mexican driver, who suffered significant enough damage to his car that put him out of the race.

Even though the Monegasue driver also suffered damage, he continued on to finish in third place, his pace seemingly not affected by a broken left side of his front wing.

His teammate Carlos Sainz finished fourth. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton moved from sixth starting position to second place, looking well after his medium tires in the end.

George Russell, on the other hand, struggled with his medium tires and got overtaken by Lando Norris on McLaren, who was awarded the Driver of the Day award for an astonishing performance.

The 23-year-old started from 17th position on the grid, fought his way through to P8, then started from the 10th place at the race restart and fell to P14 as he got squeezed on the way to the first corner.

But in the end, he again managed to fight his way through to the final P5, which sounds even better in comparison to P8 of his teammate Oscar Piastri, who started the race from P7.

The red flag and consequent race restart came as a consequence of unlucky Kevin Magnussen, who had a big crash as his suspension on the left rear tire gave up in the middle of a fast corner and sent him into the wall.

His teammate, Nico Hulkenberg, fought as much as he could for one point during his 200th race but could not keep it as his tires degraded and got overtaken by Alpine duo Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly.

AlphaTauri had a great day as Daniel Ricciardo scored six valuable points for the team by finishing in P7. However, the team could have had more points if Yuki Tsunoda hadn't had an incident with Oscar Piastri, which sent him into the last position from P8.

Tsunoda managed to get back to P12 but wasn't able to recover a point position. A team that has had one of its worst weekends this season is Aston Martin.

Fernando Alonso struggled from the first lap until lap 47, when he retired his car. Lance Stroll was doing a bit better but had to retire after contact with Valtteri Bottas on lap 66.

The Alfa Romeo also might have been looking to score some bigger points as both drivers started inside the top 10, but neither the above-mentioned Bottas nor Zhou Guanyu could achieve points this time around.

Alex Albon on Williams scored yet another valuable 2 points for his team, finishing P8 from the original 14th starting position. Logan Sargeant was another unlucky driver as he was told to retire his car on the last lap of the race just four turns before the start/finish straight.
