Lando Norris shared his best moment in Formula One, which took place during the most recent 2023 season.
While the F1 grid is pretty diverse for only 20 drivers, the United Kingdom has the biggest representation. UK drivers include Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, George Russell, and partially Alex Albon.
It is the dream of every single driver to win a Grand Prix in front of their home audience, and Silverstone has one of the most passionate crowds every single season. As reported by PlanetF1, Lando Norris said:
"I remember watching Lewis win here not many years ago, just thinking like how crazy it would be if I got the chance to stand here on the podium."
The seven-time World Champion won his home Grand Prix eight times in the past, and Norris dreamt of how it would feel to stand on that podium.
In 2023, the 24-year-old got his chance to find out after he took second place, finishing behind Max Verstappen and ahead of the Mercedes driver.
"I dreamt of it actually the night before I almost got pole position, I was starting P2. We didn’t have the expectation that I would be standing here [on the podium] after the race, but there was always a chance and I ended up standing here in front of all the British fans."
The McLaren driver had an amazing moment while standing on the podium when the whole crowd started chanting his name. He continued:
"They were all chanting my name and shouting my name, which made it even more special. It’s such a unique feeling, it’s hard to describe to people what it’s like to stand here and everyone coming to support you."
Norris achieved 13 podiums in his career and multiple times came close to a race victory, but stated the victory during the 2023 British Grand Prix was by far his best experience in F1.
"By far the best experience I’ve had in Formula 1 and one I really look forward to trying to repeat again in the future."
Do you believe McLaren could make a significant enough step forward for Norris to compete for the Grand Prix win at his home race again?
