Winner of the last three Formula One seasons,
Max Verstappen, recently stated he doesn't think he will miss the life he currently has once he concludes his F1 career.
The
Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen is only entering his best years in Formula One, but he already has three Drivers' World Championships under his belt.
The Dutch driver has already broken many records and has the potential to break a lot more, but he has been hinting lately he might not stay in F1 for too long.
Verstappen's current contract with Red Bull lasts until the end of the season 2028 when he will be 31 years old. When asked whether he believes he would get the same feeling of fulfillment or an adrenaline kick after he leaves F1, Verstappen responded in an
interview on his website:
"It will be different, I’m aware of that, but maybe that’ll also be nice. There is a lot of pressure on you during these race weekends, year after year. Maybe it’s nice to start finally doing things you like, at your own pace."
Fernando Alonso is a great example of a driver who decided to leave Formula but returned two years later as he missed the sport so much.
The Spanish Matador is still on the grid at the age of 42.
"A lot of people tell me that I’ll miss this life and the pressure that comes with it. My father says that too. But personally, I don’t think so."
The triple World Champion also believes there will come a point in his career when he will get tired of the busy Formula One life. He added:
"If you’ve been doing it for so long and so often, you’re tired of it after a while. Not yet, of course, but there will come a time when you’ve had enough. Don’t forget, I’ve been karting since I was four years old. At one point, you'll start to wonder when you can stop pushing yourself to the limits to get the best results."
