Christian Horner stated during the recent launch of Red Bull's new car, RB20, that it is an "aggressive evolution" of the previous year's model.
Red Bull Racing comes into the 2024 season as the title-defending team. The team from Milton Keynes won the last three Drivers' and last two Constructors' Championships.
Moreover, the most recent season has been its most dominant season ever. Red Bull beat the second team in the Championship, Mercedes, by 451 points.
Winning 21 out of 22 races of the season, Red Bull did not have to try to experiment with aggressive changes like the rest of the teams.
Red Bull's rivals, Mercedes or Ferrari, for example, had to make bold moves if they wanted to have a chance at competing for the title.
So, with this in mind, people didn't really have high expectations of seeing something revolutionary during the Austrian team's launch on February 15th.
However, Red Bull surprised everyone as the team applied a few visible changes that we had not seen before on any other car. Christian Horner told Sky Sports News:
"You can never stand still in this business and of course, our opposition have got a lot of motivation to go and beat us."
In a recent interview, Adrian Newey suggested he wasn't sure whether his team wasn't conservative in the development of RB20. But looking at the car the team has unveiled, it doesn't at all seem like Red Bull was conservative.
Did the team from Milton Keynes again outperform its competition during the winter break development? That won't be clear until the first race of the season. For now, Horner added:
"So we've taken all the lessons from RB19 and looked to apply them into 20 and I think the team have done an amazing job in what looks like an aggressive evolution of what was the most successful car of all time."
