In his recent interview, F1 World Champion
Nico Rosberg predicted the possibility of
Lewis Hamilton competing for the 2024 Championship against Max Verstappen.
The 2023 season comes to an end this weekend with the last race in
Abu Dhabi. With only one race remaining in the season, many F1 fans already look ahead to the next year.
The 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button recently shared his opinion, saying other teams like
Mercedes or McLaren are slowly catching up to Red Bull,
which he does not expect to be so dominant next season.
The team from Milton Keynes dominated the 2023 season completely, winning 20 out of 21 races so far.
The team broke Mercedes's 2016 record for the most wins in a single season during the most recent race in Las Vegas.
Nico Rosberg, who has been part of Mercedes in 2016 recently commented on the chances of his former team in the 2024 F1 Championship. He told the Daily Mail:
"We've seen flashes of brilliance from the Mercedes team just recently. They lack consistency. But look at Austin. They were challenging for the win there and actually had the fastest car over the weekend."
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said the most recent race in Sao Paulo has been the
worst performance of his team in 13 years. One of the main issues the Silver Arrows had was a lack of straight-line speed.
"So we've seen that they're starting to understand the car, and they just have the problem that you still lack consistency. They still lack in straight-line performance, but they are starting to understand all that."
Nico Rosberg won the 2016 World Championship with Mercedes. The 2016 season was also one of the most dominant seasons in F1 history.
The World Champion gave Mercedes's fans hope when he said it is certainly possible for Lewis Hamilton to compete for the title next season.
"I believe in Mercedes ability because I was there. I know how strong they are. It's always still the same people. So certainly, there is a chance that Hamilton could once again fight for the championship next year."
