Hamilton Admits 'Taking Snapshots Of Every Car' On Grid To Help 2024 Mercedes Development

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton shared how he does everything in his power to help his team produce a Championship-contending car for the 2024 season.
Mercedes cars went through many ups and downs this season. It seems like the team is trying to understand their own concept but still does not really know what works on different circuits.
While the Silver Arrows looked strong in Austin and Mexico City, the team looked miserable during the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. A similar pattern went on throughout the whole season.
Asked by Channel 4 whether the 2023 season was better than 2022, the seven-time World Champion responded by comparing the race in Brazil:
"I don’t know. I mean, last year, we had a race win in Brazil, but it doesn’t really mean it’s necessarily getting better – we still started the season a second and a half down in Bahrain."
It seems like multiple teams started catching up to Red Bull towards the end of the season, but the main question is how the performance gap will look at pre-season testing in Bahrain next year. Hamilton added:
"I’m in touch with the head of aero and I’m just checking up on him every week like: ‘How are we doing and what have you tried? Where’s the progress? Have you tried this?’"
The Mercedes driver revealed how he takes snapshots of other F1 cars whenever he has the chance to provide his team with possibly new valuable insights.
"I take snapshots of every car. I saw underneath the AlphaTauri the other day and I went back and was like, ‘hey, they’ve got these things on their floor.’"
While Hamilton knows the majority of images he sends to his aero department won't be groundbreaking stuff to them, it is clear that he is doing everything he can to fight for his eighth World Championship as soon as possible. He added:
"You know, you’re just trying to find everything that you can pass on, [but] they know most of the stuff anyway."
