The Red Bull Racing team principal, Christian Horner, shared how challenging it is for F1 teams to adhere to the 2023 season schedule.
Las Vegas Grand Prix was the first ever Grand Prix in Formula One history that happened on the same day of the qualifying session.
While it sounds very special and unique, drivers and their teams were not too happy about this because it meant they had to do a qualifying session around 2 am local time and race around 10 pm local time.
Red Bull Racing team principal was all in all satisfied with the weekend in which his team ceiled a one-two in the driver's Championship, but thinks many things to be improved for the next year. He told the media:
"There's going to be many lessons to learn. One of the things we need to look at is the running schedule, because it's been brutal for the team and all the men and women behind the scenes."
While all of the remaining Grand Prix races of the season take place anywhere from 2 pm to 8 pm local time, the Las Vegas Grand Prix Qualifying session started at 2 am and the race at 10 pm.
"I think everybody's leaving Vegas slightly f****d. One way or another. It's been a brutal weekend for everyone behind the scenes. We need to look at how we can improve that for the future."
The problem is F1 has fans all around the World, and no matter the time, there will always be some fans who have to watch the race very late at night. Horner explained:
"We're running so late at night, maybe to run a little earlier in the evening, because you're never going to keep every television audience totally happy."
The Red Bull team principal added he would have liked to have the race two hours earlier so all teams and F1 employees feel more comfortable.
"This is an American race. If you run it at eight o'clock in the evening or something like that, it would just be a bit more comfortable for men and women working behind the scenes."
