F1 World Champion Jenson Button shared his predictions for the 2024 season, saying he does not think it's going to be all
Red Bull’s way.
While some people can appreciate the insanely consistent perfection in Red Bull's performance, the Championship simply isn't as thrilling if there is no competition for the first place.
On the other hand, if we eliminated Red Bull out of the 2023 equation. There would be
seven different Grand Prix winners from 4 different teams. Jenson Button told Sky Sports News:
"I think the sport is even more competitive now, there’s so many big teams fighting at the front. One tiny slip-up and you are the fourth-best team. To catch Red Bull is difficult, but they [Mercedes] are getting closer."
Even though it might not seem like Mercedes is the team getting close to Red Bull in
Sao Paulo,
Lewis Hamilton finished second in both previous races, a few seconds behind the Flying Dutchman. Button clarified:
"Brazil wasn’t a good example but this second part of the season, you’ve seen teams like McLaren and Mercedes, both fighting very closely with the Red Bulls. Max has had that little advantage, but Checo hasn’t."
Red Bull might be hiding their real improvements in car developments for the 2024 season, which allows other teams to catch up temporarily. However, Button does not feel that next year will be the same.
"We could have an upset next year. I don’t think it’s going to be all Red Bull’s way. This year was an exceptional year for that team, and I don’t feel it will be the same next year. Which is what the sport needs. We need a little bit of a mix-up."
