Red Bull Racing F1 driver Max Verstappen recently addressed criticism in relation to his and Red Bull's complete dominance in 2023.
Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner recently said Max Verstappen is already in the same category as some of the greatest drivers F1 has ever seen.
The dominance of the Red Bull team is evident when we look at the Championship standings or results of every single race in the 2023 season.
The team from Milton Keynes has won 19 out of 20 races so far and currently leads exactly 400 points on the second team in the Constructors' Championship - Mercedes.
One of the main driving forces behind these incredible results - Max Verstappen, summarized according to RacingNews365:
"You do everything you can to win and once you get that, you try to hold onto that for as long as possible."
There have been a lot of voices recently criticizing the huge dominance of Red Bull. What's more, Verstappen has been named one of the biggest risks to the business of F1. The Dutchman addressed the dominance comments:
"Depends, if you are that person, then nothing! If you're not that person, then of course it's not so nice. But if you are that person, it's nice."
The three-time World Champion sees both sides of the coin. On one hand, there are Red Bull fans who enjoy every single win. On the other hand, fans of some other teams have been waiting for a win all season and didn't get it.
"If you're a fan [of ours], of course, it's great too and if you are not a fan of a particular person or team, you don't like it as much."
The Dutchman thinks people should appreciate the great performance of the Red Bull team which has made hardly any mistake in the 2023 season.
"In the end, it's about looking at performance, not the boring dominance. You always have different opinions, some people can't see that. Some do. Or don't want to see it, that's also a difference."
Verstappen also acknowledged there are general fans who just want to see racing, but again, these eras of single-team dominations are part of Formula One and should also be appreciated according to him.
"Of course, as a general fan you want a little more excitement or other teams winning, but you should also be able to appreciate when one team dominates because they are obviously doing better than someone else."
