In a recent interview,
Red Bull Racing F1 team principal
Christian Horner praised his driver,
Max Verstappen, saying he is one of the greatest drivers in the history of F1.
"Of course, it's always incredibly difficult to compare drivers from different generations but what I think is safe to say with what Max has achieved in a short period of time, with now three world championships, 51 or 52 Grand Prix victories, is an incredible, incredible record."
The current holder of the record for the most Grand Prix victories is
Lewis Hamilton (103). However, the Mercedes driver is 12 years older than Verstappen. Horner thinks Verstappen can already be named one of the greatest:
"I think that he can now be spoken about in the same sentence, in the same category, as some of the greatest drivers that the sport has ever seen."
The team principal thinks Verstappen can still achieve much more if his team continues delivering him a competitive car.
"He's still so young. He's still evolving as a driver, particularly as he gains more experience. A lot depends on the equipment that we can give him, but I think he can achieve a lot more."
The Dutchman keeps impressing everyone in the paddock with every single win he adds to his super-consistent streak and at the moment, he seems unstoppable. Horner concluded:
"He's motivated, he's hungry, and he just loves his racing. You can see that. He's not interested in anything else other than just going racing."
