The new identity of the Italian-based team, formerly known as Scuderia AlphaTauri, has been officially announced.
A team that was once known as Red Bull's junior team under names like Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri is entering a new era with a major rebrand.
Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri used to be teams whose major purpose was to identify and give opportunities to young, talented drivers to give them their first shot in F1.
The mission was successful, as the team brought up drivers like Daniel Ricciardo, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, and Alex Albon, as well as World Champions like Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.
The start of the 2024 season will mark the end of an era as Red Bull's second team now wants to become more competitive and compete for the race podiums rather than focusing on young talent.
One of the main parts of the rebrand will be the new name. It was speculated for a while about what the team could be named with a couple of big sponsors in the contest to become the title sponsor.
A few leaks in recent days suggested Visa Cash App would be the title sponsor, but the full name of the team wasn't clear until today's official announcement.
It is now clear that AlphaTauri will be renamed to "Visa Cash App RB F1 team." Now, it isn't clear so far how fans and commentators will refer to the team, but what is clear is that almost nobody will call it by its full name.
Other teams in F1 have longer names, for example, the Aston Martin Aramco F1 Team or Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Nobody names every single word in Mercedes's official name in a casual conversation.
It is, therefore, reasonable to assume that the Visa Cash App RB will not be an exception. Our guess is people will either call the new team "Visa" or "RB" but we have to wait and see.
The new team will, of course, have a stunning new livery. However, to see the livery, we will have to wait until February 8th - Visa Cash App RB's season launch in Las Vegas.
