Triple World Champion Max Verstappen scored three podiums and two wins in the second round of the esports series Real Racers Never Quit.
Real Racers Never Quit is an esports series where Red Line (an esports team associated with Max Verstappen) and guest racers compete on iRacing (an online game) in a variety of motorsport categories and tracks.
In the first round of the series, racers drove GT3 cars, and Max Verstappen finished only P8. However, his amazing results in the second round moved the Dutchman into second place in the Championship.
The second round consisted of races at two legendary tracks - Silverstone and Mugello. It is worth mentioning that Mugello is one of Verstappens's favorite circuits, which he said he would like to see in F1.
The first race at Silverstone was in F3 cars. Verstappen qualified in P4, and during a very challenging race, he managed to get into the lead and hold on to his first position. The Dutchman said after the race:
"I had to work very hard for it. It was really fun, and we had some good battles. These cars are really good to race."
The second race at Mugello featured Formula 4 cars. This time, the race was split into two 15-minute-long heats, first with a starting order reflecting the qualifying and the second with a semi-reversed grid.
The 26-year-old secured a pole position, which meant he would start the first heat from P1 and the second from P10, because of the the reversed rules applied to the first ten drivers.
In the first heat, Verstappen lost his leading position at the beginning but managed to recover and take his second win of the second round of Real Racers Never Quit.
The second heat was much more challenging for the 26-year-old as he would start from the P10. However, he showed what he's got as in a matter of 15 minutes, he climbed up the grid and almost managed to snatch the third win of the day.
The last lap of the second heat at the Mugello circuit was particularly exciting because of the super close finish. Verstappen crossed the finish line side by side with two other drivers. See the video and the photo on the finish line below.
