Alpine F1 Team shared a sneak peek of A524's (their 2024 challenger's) new livery that will most probably be fully unveiled during the official launch in 17 days.
Alpine's title sponsor, BWT, is an Austrian company that manufactures water treatment systems. In 2022 and 2023, Alpine prepared something special in collaboration with their Austrian sponsor, and the latest sneak peek suggests we might suggest something similar in 2024.
The French team ran an all-pink livery in the first few races of both seasons, 2022 and 2023, before switching to their more traditional dark blue.
In the image posted on their social media on Saturday, Alpine hinted the team will run a camouflage pink livery at the start of the season.
While the post didn't reveal any details, and it isn't clear for how long exactly the team plans to run these colors, it now seems almost like a tradition for the French team to start with pink and then drop it after the first few races of the season.
Therefore, it is reasonable to assume this is not a color that we will see on the A524 throughout the whole season. What more do we now about the new car?
Alpine's technical director, Matt Harman, stated in a recent interview that the team had to focus on weight loss. The French squad identified weight as a primary aspect of the poor performance in 2023.
Harman explained it was very challenging to do anything about it, and consequently,
the car had to be redesigned entirely going into 2024.
We know that Alpine suffered from a weak performance of its power unit, and moving forward, the team will try to eliminate some of its weaknesses. However, it might still be reasonable to assume they won't be able to match the power units of teams like
Ferrari, Honda, or
Mercedes.
Besides the things mentioned above, we don't know much more about the A524 and have to wait for the
official launch that is scheduled for 07.02.2024.
