Max Verstappen has been associated with
Mercedes over the past few days, but he seemingly has no intentions to leave
Red Bull.
The Dutch driver became one of the most successful drivers of current generation while driving for the Austrian team based in Milton Keynes, United Kingdom.
He became a three-time World Champion with Red Bull, and
he started the 2024 season with a win with the team. However, off the race track, things have been looking quite rocky for the team in the past few weeks.
It seemingly all started with
Christian Horner's investigation because of alleged "inappropriate behaviour." However, after the British Team Principal was cleared of the accusations, it seemed that it was all over.
Yet, Verstappen's father,
Jos, came with statements about how Horner damages the team, and almost immediately, the Dutch driver started to be associated with different teams.
One of the most often mentioned teams was Mercedes, and even the German team's Team Principal, Toto Wolff, addressed the situation, claiming anything can happen in the future.
Verstappen, on the other hand, is aware until which date his contract lasts, and he was aware of it also when he signed it, and he made sure to mention that ahead of the 2024
Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.
"Of course, that has always been the intention of the signing. That's why we signed for so long to be here. And, of course, it's about the performance of the car. And, of course, from 2026, anyway, that's a question mark with the new regulations, but I knew that when I signed my contract."
Speaking to the media ahead of the Grand Prix at the
Jeddah Corniche Circuit, the 26-year-old admitted that he has no intentions to leave the team, because he's happy there at the moment.
"But I also know what they've done for me in my career, right? So, of course, the intention is absolutely to stay with this team because I really enjoy it and I'm also very happy within the team. And in the meantime, there's no reason to leave."
