Lewis Hamilton discussed the possibility of Max Verstappen leaving Red Bull to join Mercedes after the end of the 2024 season.
With all the drama that is going on in Red Bull due to Christian Horner's controversial situation, it has been suggested Max Verstappen might be about to leave the team.
Then, as his father was coincidentally seen speaking to Mercedes's team principal, Toto Wolff, it seemed the Dutchman might be exploring his options regarding where to go.
Only two teams have won the Champion title since 2010: Red Bull and Mercedes. So, from the potential of the team perspective, it would make sense for Verstappen to choose the German team if he was about to leave.
After being spotted speaking to the triple World Champion's father, Wolff was asked whether it was possible for the 26-year-old to drive for Mercedes in 2025, and he responded, "Anything is possible."
The seven-time World Champion agreed with the words of his team principal during the press conference ahead of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, when he said:
"I think my moves have shown that anything is possible, and it's going to be really interesting in the next six months."
On the other hand, Lewis Hamilton asserted he couldn't see a clear reason as to why the Dutchman would want to leave his team as long as he was provided the fastest car on the grid.
"I'm sure Max is on the list, but I'm pretty sure he's tied up. I don’t see why he would leave a car that was that good."
Also, speaking to the media during the press day ahead of the race at Jeddah Corniche Circuit, Max Verstappen clarified that his intentions are to stay with Red Bull Racing and that there is "no reason" for him to leave the team.
