The 29-year-old Formula One driver Carlos Sainz stated there is no better place on the grid to become the World Champion than in his team.
Carlos Sainz just finished his ninth season in F1 and his third season with Scuderia Ferrari. The Spanish driver has changed four teams throughout his career.
He started out in Toro Rosso (AlphaTauri) alongside Max Verstappen, then moved to Renault, which is now known as Alpine, then to McLaren, and in for the 2021 season, he got a seat in Ferrari.
After the three seasons that he spent with the Italian team, Sainz achieved two Grand Prix victories and the best Championship result of fifth place. However, he believes there is no better place to become the World Champion. He told DAZN.
"I am in the best place on the F1 grid to be F1 champion, without a doubt. Until you are within Ferrari you don't live it. You're practically running for an entire country. I give my all at work, on the track, training to be world champion and do it with Ferrari."
Moreover, the Spanish driver stated he would be happy to spend the rest of his career with the Italian team (even though it is not so common for Ferrari to keep drivers for so long).
"I am so happy at Ferrari and so happy to be part of this team that, at the moment, I don't see an expiration date. I have, I hope, many years ahead of me, and I wouldn't mind counting all of them in red."
The 29-year-old is currently in contract negotiations with Scuderia and rumors suggested he has been offered a two-year contract valid until the end of season 2026. The Spaniard added:
"My main motivation is to be World Champion. And if I can achieve that with Ferrari, even better. It's what we have to try in 2024 and I think we have the capacity."
