Red Bull Racing F1 team principal Christian Horner identified why Scuderia Ferrari can't win the Formula One Championship.
Ferrari has not won the Formula One World Championship in 15 years. One of the greatest teams of all time has been recently struggling compared to teams like Mercedes or Red Bull.
The Italian team has managed to achieve multiple second places in the Constructors' and Drivers' Championships in the meantime but has always lacked something to snatch the first place.
Christian Horner- team principal of the team that has now won three consecutive Drivers' titles and two consecutive Constructors' titles, identified what he thinks the problem is. Horner told the Eff Won with DRS podcast;
"I think the biggest problem for Ferrari is that it’s a national team. It needs to get back to being a race team."
Horner thinks the Ferrari team got too big to the point where there are just too many people pushing their own agendas, and the team suffers as a result.
"It’s an Italian institution, and there’s probably too many people at the top end. Everybody has an input and has a say."
The team principal thinks one of the most important traits of the Formula One team is to make decisions quickly in order to move forward.
'From the outside looking in, one of our strengths is that we move quickly, we make decisions and we stick to them."
There might be some truth to what Horner says as the Red Bull team is currently miles ahead of everybody winning 19 out of 20 races in the season so far. He concluded:
And if we make the wrong decision, we change the decision. I think, for Ferrari, the newspapers have such an influence on what happens there. So it’s a lot of pressure, being at Ferrari."
