Esteban Ocon, who won third place in Monaco this season besides lacking pace in his car, said "good things will come" for Alpine if the team keeps working over the winter.
Alpine's interim team principal Bruno Famin lately admitted the French team is not where they would want to be after finishing sixth in the Constructors' Championship.
The team has been stuck in the midfield for a couple of seasons, and while it manages to stay ahead of the backmarkers, Alpine can't catch up with teams like Red Bull, Mercedes, or Ferrari.
Teams like McLaren or Aston Martin, who finished behind Alpine in 2022, have made great progress in 2023 and showed the French team that big steps forward are possible.
Alpine F1 driver who finished this season in 12th place, Esteban Ocon, suggested his team keeps observing and learning. As reported by Formula 1, he said:
"We are trying to keep learning from this year and hopefully bring the good things into next year’s car, and that’s going to be the aim over the winter as well, on the simulator to be able to extract the maximum out of the data that we’ve just put in there."
The 27-year-old stated after the last race of the season, he was going "back to war mode" for the training camp ahead of the 2023 season suggesting he will do nothing but exercise and race.
The Frenchman has been encouraging and said he expects good things to come as he puts his trust in the Alpine team to develop a more competitive car going into 2024.
"We keep on working and I’m pretty sure good things will come. I trust the team to do a good job over the winter and everyone is hungry for more, to keep on improving, and that’s what we’re aiming for."
