Alpine Formula One driver
Esteban Ocon talked about intense training waiting for him after the not-so-successful 2023 season.
Alpine F1 driver Esteban Ocon
finished the 2023 season in 12th place, four points behind his teammate and rookie in Alpine Pierre Gasly.
In general, drivers can only be compared accurately with their teammates. Hence the saying, "Your teammate is your greatest enemy."
Ocon was also pretty unlucky or a bit too aggressive during 2023, as he got involved in numerous incidents throughout the season, which cost him many points.
The Frenchman is the driver with the most retirements in 2023 - six in total. There have been 22 races, so the 27-year-old retired from every fourth race on average.
On the other hand, the Alpine driver also showed some incredible performances, and he will for sure remember the 2023
Monaco Grand Prix as one of his best races of the season.
Even though Alpine struggled with performance compared to the top five teams, including
Red Bull,
Mercedes,
Ferrari,
McLaren, and
Aston Martin, Ocon managed to snatch the 3rd place at
Circuit de Monaco.
The Frenchman showed another astonishing performance in
Las Vegas. Starting from P16, Ocon managed to climb up the grid into the final P4.
Besides some great results, Ocon was probably not too satisfied with his 2023 season, as he told GPblog he would go back to super intense training just like in 2022.
"From the 2nd of January until the first test, I will be back fully into training camp. I’m going to be doing it the way I was in 2022, which is [having] no life, flat out, only racing… Back to war mode."
The 27-year-old currently has a
contract with Alpine until the end of the 2024 season and will want to give his best to secure a seat for future seasons as well.
