Red Bull's technical director Pierre Wache commended the team's chief technical officer, Adrian Newey, saying he is "irreplaceable" in the team.

You might often meet with Adrian Newey's name being mentioned around Red Bull's dominant RB19 car. That is because the Brit is largely credited for the design of the concept of Red Bull's super-successful 2023 car.

The Chief Technical Officer has been with the F1 team for a very long time, and even though Red Bull's RB19 has been a collective effort, Pierre Wache told motorsport.com Newey is irreplaceable.

"He’s irreplaceable, yes – you cannot replace him! On a daily basis, he’s not part of our process."

Christian Horner suggested in his recent interview Red Bull's technical team is not reliant on the 65-year-old. Wache explained Newey is there to challenge the team's concepts and provide constructive feedback.

"He’s more coming from the sideways and trying to help us or challenge us on different aspects of the team – it could be mechanical design, aero or vehicle dynamics."

What the technical director also highlighted about Newey is his humility. Wache pointed out how open-minded the 65-year-old is.

"He’s a very smart person and he’s still very open-minded. People with plenty of success normally [think] their idea is the best, and he’s not like that. He’s very open-minded. I think he’s working like that – as a mentor and challenging us."

Newey is currently one of the essential parts of Red Bull's success. As he described it, to win the Championship, Red Bull needs a great power unit, chassis, and driver.

During the last couple of seasons, stars have aligned for the team from Milton Keynes to have all of the above-mentioned aspects. Newey's contribution lies in the chassis which was arguably the most important part in 2023.

Even though he revealed he once almost quit the team, the chief technical officer recently said he has no reason not to stay with Red Bull. Do you think the Brit can design another super-dominant car for this season?
