F1 driver Carlos Sainz said his contract negotiations with Scuderia Ferrari should not be "too much of a problem."
Carlos Sainz achieved two podiums and one Grand Prix victory for the Ferrari team in season 2023. The one victory has been significant, as all other races in the season have been won by dominant Red Bull Racing.
The Spanish driver currently stands 5th in the Drivers' Championship with 171 points - 20 points ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc in the seventh place.
Both Ferrari drivers have their contract with Scuderia Ferrari valid until the end of 2024, and Ferrari has not made it clear so far if the team wants to prolong the contracts with both drivers. Sainz told the media:
"I've always said, I'm happy here and that the winter was going to be a good time to sit down and see if we can come to an agreement for the future."
Sainz mentioned he has been getting more and more comfortable with Ferrari. He suggested he would like to stay with the team "shouldn't be too much of a problem".
"Which, if they're happy with me, and I'm happy with them, shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's hopefully going to happen this winter. And if not, it will drag for longer. But let's see."
The F1 is one of the most competitive, if not the most competitive sport in the world. As of now, there can only be 20 drivers on the grid at the same time.
On the other hand, Ferrari will want an experienced driver so they can only pick from the 20, and drivers from the top teams like Mercedes and McLaren along with Max Verstappen have already been secured by their teams. Would you like to see Carlos Sainz in Ferrari after the 2024 season?
