Red Bull's Sergio Perez suggested he remains confident he will continue with the team from Milton Keynes beyond the current 2024 season.

Sergio Perez's contract with Red Bull expires at the end of 2024, which means the team is free to look for other alternatives on the market if they want.

However, the Mexican driver has worked well for the Austrian team alongside their number one driver, Max Verstappen, so far. Perez struggled with performance in 2023, but the team has clarified they are happy to continue with him if he can improve this season.

According to the opinions of various experts like Karun Chandhook or Jack Doohan, Checo has been making a solid argument (with performance during the first four rounds) not to be replaced.

During a media day ahead of the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix, Perez addressed questions concerning the battle for his seat in Red Bull Racing. He told the media at Shanghai International Circuit:

"Every week the contender is changing. But it's normal I think when things are not signed, everyone is a contender."

It was initially said Daniel Ricciardo was the main candidate for Perez's seat, but his performances were not sufficient during the first four rounds. Then it was Fernando Alonso, but he signed with Aston Martin last week.

Now, it seems like the hottest contender for Perez's seat is Carlos Sainz. Asked if he was optimistic that he could retain his seat alongside the triple World Champion for the 2025 season, the 34-year-old responded:

"Yes, I am. We've been here together for already a few years and I think it will be quite a quick conversation to know which direction we go. We all want to continue so I will expect [it to be] a matter of time."
"Given how the market is moving, things are kicking in a lot faster than we all would have liked, but it's how the game is at the moment."
