Red Bull Racing driver Sergio Perez suggested that the Japanese Grand Prix only showed how confident he feels inside his RB20 at the moment. He also shared his thoughts on this week's Chinese Grand Prix.
Sergio Perez comes to the Chinese Grand Prix as the second driver in the Championship, 13 points behind his teammate Max Verstappen.
Every single performance is currently essential for the Mexican driver, as Red Bull hasn't yet decided on who they want for 2025, and his career is on the line.
So far, the 34-year-old driver has been driving very well, giving Red Bull no reason to look elsewhere. In Japan, Checo almost outqualified the triple World Champion. As quoted by crash.net, he said:

"Japan really proved to me how confident I feel with this car and the performance I can extract from it, in places I struggled last season."

Former F1 driver and Sky Sports pundit Karun Chandhok believes that Perez is so far making a good case not to be replaced in the team from Milton Keynes.
However, Checo has also been driving exceptionally well in the first four races of 2023 and wasn't able to retain his form, so it will be essential to show now that he can.
Chinese Grand Prix sprint weekend will, therefore, be essential for Perez, and he has had some great races here in the past, but not for Red Bull. He added:

"It's exciting to be heading back to China again, it feels like a long, long time since we were last here. I've never driven a Red Bull around this circuit so that'll be good fun. This is a challenging circuit but I think we've shown we have a car to compete in most places with the RB20."

"I've been back in Milton Keynes this week, working hard with my Team to prepare for the next few weeks of racing. Preparation is very important when you have a Sprint weekend, as we get so little practice time in the car."
