Christian Horner talked to Sergio Perez following the unsuccessful 2024 British Grand Prix, and he has now revealed some details of the conversation.

Red Bull Racing F1 driver Sergio Perez has struggled since the 2024 Miami Grand Prix. During the following six race weekends, he scored three-point finishes with the best result of P7.

His team desperately needs him to get back into the form to protect their Constructors' Championship lead, but the British Grand Prix was one of his worst race weekends so far.

Consequently, the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner, decided it was time for a private chat with the 34-year-old driver in the comfort of his own home.

Speaking to the media after the second practice session ahead of the 13th round of the season at Hungaroring, he said,

"We have a very open relationship; we sat down at the kitchen in my house and asked him, 'What's going on? Is it something else?' and he said, 'I'm just overthinking things a bit too much.'"
"I think almost ignoring what happens on the other side of the garage will do him a favor, which is the approach to focus on his own performance."

The private chat might have positively affected Perez as he seemed closer to Max Verstappen during the first two practice sessions in Hungary despite not having an upgrade on his car.

The Mexican driver finished the second session two-tenths of a second behind the triple World Champion, fourth overall. Horner added:

"I think the cars are working quite well, and when it works well the gap diminishes between two of them, hope that he'll take in quite a bit of confidence out of that."
"We all want Checo to realize the potential he has in the first races; he's capable of that; the team is working very hard with him to support him, making sure he refinds his form."
