Lewis Hamilton will have a new teammate in 2025, and according to former F1 driver, David Coulthard, he can be "one of his biggest challengers" yet.
In his racing career, the British driver had many different teammates in F1. He started alongside
Fernando Alonso, then teamed up with Heikki Kovalainen, before driving 58 Grands Prix with
Jenson Button as his teammate.
Then, between 2013 and 2016, the Brit fiercely competed with
Nico Rosberg, who managed to beat him to one title, before joining forces with
Valtteri Bottas in 2017, who helped him to many of his championships.
In 2022, Hamilton teamed up with a new teammate,
George Russell, and in 2025, he will have a new one again, this time around,
Charles Leclerc in Scuderia
Ferrari.
The seven-time World Champion signed the contract with the Italian team, therefore, he can prepare for a new challenge in 2025. He won't race just for a new team, he'll also have a new teammate.
Former F1 driver David Coulthard, who recorded 13 race wins in his career, recently talked about the fellow Brit on his
Formula For Success podcast. According to the 52-year-old, Hamilton may find a great challenge in the Monegasque driver.
"I think he will find one of his biggest challenges in Charles Leclerc. Charles is a young [and] brilliantly fast race driver. No, he doesn’t have the World Championships and the experience of Lewis, but I think he is a champion in waiting. So, that may well be where Lewis finds his greatest challenge."
Although Leclerc doesn't have a World Championship or experience, which could match Hamilton, he has hunger and undeniable talent, which make him a very strong opponent even for a driver, who has recorded 103 race wins, and collected seven World Drivers' Championships in his very successful racing career.
