Lewis Hamilton discussed his dream and motivation ahead of the last season with his long-term team, Mercedes.

Going into the 2024 season, Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton already know it will be their last season together, no matter what, after the recent announcement of a move to Ferrari.

While it will be a bit awkward, as Max Verstappen suggested, the seven-time World Champion and his team are determined to make the most of their last ride together.

The 39-year-old, who was used to winning multiple races every single season throughout his career, has not won a single Grand Prix in the last two years. Nevertheless, he shared that his motivation ahead of the season is at an all-time high.

"I feel the most motivated and focused I’ve ever been. Every year you come back you’re like I’m fitter than ever and all these other things. But I genuinely feel I put more work, more time, and more focus into preparation this year."

In general, older F1 drivers tend to lose motivation towards the end of their careers, but similar to Fernando Alonso, Hamilton shows no signs of decreasing motivation.

When his move to Ferrari was announced, the general notion was that the seven-time World Champion wanted to achieve his eighth title with Scuderia.

However, he still has a chance to win the title with Mercedes during the upcoming season, and the British driver suggested that would be his dream.

"I never thought that at this point in my life I would have hunger like I do right now. And to finish on the high with the team, it would be a dream."

Hamilton joined the German team in 2013, and throughout his 11 seasons with the team, he has won six Drivers' Championships and helped the team achieve eight consecutive Constructors Championships. The seven-time World Champion added:

"We’ve gone through a whole heap together. So to finish on a high, it would be the greatest honour to be able to help them get back to the top."
