Alpine's Formula 1 driver
Pierre Gasly suggested his contract negotiations with Alpine have already begun.
Contracts of more than one-half of the drivers on the 2024 grid will expire at the end of this season, and driver Pierre Gasly is one of the drivers who will need to look for a seat.
The French driver changed teams after the end of the 2022 season as he moved on from the
Red Bull family (with which he has been ever since the start of his career) to join Alpine.
Alpine's newly announced permanent team principal, Bruno Famin, suggested his team has been satisfied with both of their drivers and already started having some talks concerning their future together.
The 28-year-old confirmed the suggestion of his team principal as he was talking to the media after the
recent launch of Alpine's 2024 challenger - A524. He said:
"It's an ongoing process and we have had conversations. I think it's going to start going crazy after a couple of races or maybe it did already."
Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari changed the dynamics of the driver market, and it is expected we will see many changes between seasons 2024 and 2025.
"Obviously, as a driver, I've got my team to do this type of job. I'm focusing on what I've got to do as a driver because ultimately, that's what I want to do. I want to perform, I want to give my absolute best, I want to do my absolute best for the team."
As the Frenchman said, every driver's position on the market ultimately depends on his performances on the track, which means it is currently best to focus on the preparation for the new season. He added:
"500 people worked day and night to get that car as good as they can and then my job is to bring it to further up the grid as I can so it's what I focus on."
