Formula 2 driver Isack Hadjar was announced to replace Yuki Tsunoda in the seat of his AlphaTauri car for the FP1 during the Mexico City Grand Prix.
After his most successful weekend in the 2023 season, Yuki Tsunoda will get more rest ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix as Isack Hadjar will hop into his seat for Free Practice session one.
Isack Hadjar is a part of Red Bull Academy. The French-Algerian driver currently competes in the Formula 2 Championship, driving for the Hitech Pulse–Eight team.
Every Formula One team is obligated to allocate at least two practice sessions throughout each season to each of their drivers who has not competed in more than two Grand Prix events.
This rule exists in order to help rookie drivers gain experience and show off their talent. AlphaTauri will not be the only team giving a chance to their younger driver in Mexico.
Alpine is set to let Jack Doohan take the car of either Esteban Ocon or Pierre Gasly at the first two outings in Mexico City at Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.
AlphaTauri team added a post on Twitter announcing: "We're pleased to announce F2 driver Isack Hadjar is set to get behind the wheel in FP1 this weekend. He'll be jumping into Yuki's seat to set some laps in Mexico."
AlphaTauri made a remarkable comeback after the latest Grand Prix in Austin, closing the gap to ninth-place Haas to only two points and the gap to eighth Alfa Romeo to six points.
While Yuki Tsunoda had his best result of the season at Circuit of the Americas, his teammate Daniel Ricciardo had a very tough weekend, saying, "Texas hasn't been too kind."
Both drivers will be looking to score points at the Mexico City Grand Prix eighth place in the Constructors' Championship seems more achievable all of a sudden.
