Helmut Marko reacted to Lando Norris's claims after the end of the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix Sprint race weekend.
There were two races (sprint and the Grand Prix) during the fifth round of the season at Shanghai International Circuit, and Max Verstappen comfortably won both of them.
Former F1 driver Karun Chandhok revealed an interesting statistic after the end of the weekend: "On not a single lap of the entire Chinese GP did Max do a slower lap time than the drivers who finished second, third, or fourth."
It was clear from the opening lap of the race that the triple World Champion was in a league of his own. Speaking to the media ahead of the weekend, Lando Norris suggested such dominance was and will always be boring for F1 fans.
"We are seeing more dominance than ever, so it is never going to be the best to watch and the only exciting races have been the ones that Max is not in."
"If you see the same driver winning every single time without a fight, then, of course, it does start to become boring, and that is obvious."
Red Bull bosses took offense when they were told about the McLaren driver's claim. Christian Horner asserted that the Dutchman's dominance and perfection should be appreciated.
His colleague Helmut Marko told De Telegraaf he doesn't find Verstappen's performances boring "at all" and also highlighted that they should be appreciated instead of frowned upon.
"It's not boring at all. In skiing, we used to have men like Franz Klammer and Hermann Maier, who won a lot."
"If a sportsman's performance is extraordinary, you have to accept and appreciate it. And above all, don't say it's boring. It's Max's merit."
Who do you agree with more? Do you enjoy watching Red Bull Racing's perfect execution combined with the 26-year-old's talent and consistency, or would you rather watch a super close battle for the Championship like in 2021?
