1996 Formula 1 World Champion Damon Hill stated that there is no arguing against whether
Max Verstappen is one of the F1's all-time greats.
Nowadays, it seems that
Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen achieves new milestones and
breaks records every single Grand Prix weekend.
The Dutchman achieved two milestones by scoring pole position in qualifying for the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix. First, he scored Red Bull's 100th pole position.
Second, he became the first driver in this century to score pole position in all qualifying sessions during the first five race weekends of the season.
Verstappen can still extend this streak even further, so it will be exciting to watch how he performs during the upcoming race weekend in Miami.
Karun Chandhok lately said he could see why people already label the 26-year-old as one of the all-time greats but suggested he would like to see him change teams to
show that he can win with someone other than Red Bull to really prove he deserves a spot amongst names like Alain Prost,
Michael Schumacher, and
Lewis Hamilton for example.
Damn, Hill, on the other hand, can't see an argument that would make him say Verstappen isn't one of the greatest drivers of all time already. As quoted by crash.net, he said:
"People are already talking about him as being established as one of the great Formula 1 drivers of all time."
"I can't argue with that. He's got the equipment - but he's got the equipment because he was so blindingly, obviously quick and aggressive and competitive."
As it stands, it seems like the combination of Red Bull's fastest car, fastest pit stops, flawless strategy, and incredibly quick and consistent Verstappen cannot be matched by anyone.
"Mentally, he knows where he's at. He doesn't need much help. And he's got a great team. He's almost indestructible."
