Fernando Alonso jibed at his old teammate Lewis Hamilton after his recent claim saying it was his "childhood dream" to go to Ferrari.
Lewis Hamilton will be moving to Ferrari after the end of the 2024 season with the goal of achieving at least one more title with the Italian team.
The seven-time World Champion's move to Ferrari was questioned by many, but Fernando Alonso asserted Scuderia might have a real shot at competing for the title. He told BBC:
"[During the past few years] Ferrari had a very fast car and were fighting for big things. Maybe Lewis can bring that extra to fight for the championship. The car is there."
During the last five races of the season, Ferrari amassed more poles than the leading Red Bull. The argument that was used by Red Bull's fans was that the team from Milton Keynes hadn't introduced an upgrade since the summer break.
But Ferrari also hasn't brought too many upgrades in the second half of the season, and Charles Leclerc asserted the step forward resulted from a better understanding of the car.
"Even last year, with a very dominant Red Bull car, Ferrari were able to match the lap time and be faster than them in most of the qualifyings, so the car should be fast enough."
Alonso, being the funny man he is, couldn't resist taunting the seven-time World Champion, who claimed one of the main reasons for his move to Ferrari was that it was his childhood dream.
"It was not his childhood dream 12 months ago, no? Or two months ago, I guess, because it was a different dream then."
The Spanish Matador raced for Scuderia in seasons 2010-2014, during which he failed to achieve the title and finished as a runner-up three times. Can Hamilton be the driver that brings the Championship title back to Ferrari?
